As President and Vice-President of Merrimac Quality Log Homes, we're honored to share with you the legacy of a family-run company that has, for generations, been pioneering the art of log home construction. Established in the mid 1970’s, Merrimac has stood the test of time to become one of the most trusted names in the log home industry, growing from a bustling sawmill nestled in New Hampshire's white pine forests to a nationally acclaimed mill-direct log home manufacturer.

 

Our journey began when Jeff, a then city boy of just 15, moved to the country and swapped summer holidays for the night shifts at his uncle's mill, Granite State Forest Products. Here, amidst the aroma of timber and the hum of the sawmill, the seed of passion for log homes was planted.

 

But the road to log home mastery wasn't a straight one. There were detours - a stint in college, a laborious summer job that turned Jeff into a human forklift, hauling 1000 lbs of clay bags up a hill only to be laid off when the hill had its fill. But it was amidst these uphill battles that Jeff found his true north - in the splintered texture of timber, the silent communion between man and wood, and the gratification of crafting a home from mere logs. Responding to this call, Jeff returned to his roots and scaled the ranks from green apprentice to Vice-President, and eventually to the owner of Merrimac Log Homes.

 

Along this transformative journey, his wife Amanda came aboard, bringing with her a can-do spirit and an unwavering dedication. Together, they crafted their first log home for their family, a testament to their shared dreams and tireless perseverance. Today, their collaboration brings together Jeff's expertise in production and Amanda's managerial acumen, with each day reinforcing their commitment to the values and traditions that define Merrimac.

 

Extending our family legacy is our daughter, who has grown amidst the wood shavings and blueprints at our mill. She now plays a pivotal role in our sales department, infusing her unique insights and energy into our operations.
